Origins ~ Having been given my first camera at the age of eight, I developed a keen interest in photography. During my RAF service between 1983 and 1989 I became very interested in wildlife photography and spent most of my spare time in the countryside around the base, trying to hone my photography skills. Over the years I have spent a lot of time and effort developing and improving my photographic knowledge and ability, whilst still retaining my interest and enthusiasm for the art of photography. My 2006 exhibition of artistic nudes in Aberdeen Arts Centre, entitled 'Form of Emotion' was described by Charlie Waite as 'Glorious Work, full of meaning!'

My first commissioned shoot was for a hairdressing salon in Aberdeen called 'Rico Hair Design' (sadly now closed) back in 1996. In addition to shooting images for display in the salon, I also produced the salon website which made Rico the first hairdressing salon in the World to take online appointment bookings. Since then I have taken on a huge variety of commercial bookings, ranging from images for corporate literature to images of industrial machinery for legal purposes.

Today ~ Nowadays I am pleased to be able to offer an enormous range of photographic services, including corporate commissions, functions, events, weddings, portraits, fine-art commissions, private boudoir commissions, model/actor portfolios, pet portraits, insurance valuation photography, insurance claim photography, private and group tuition and many others. I also have a range of photography lectures available for schools, colleges, clubs, societies or other organisations and provide training courses and workshops on both a one-to-one and group basis ranging from a few hours tuition to several weeks in the African bush.

Fundraising ~ Speaking of the African Bush; together with my zoologist wife, Karen, I am giving back to the wildlife of Africa and the people who live with wildlife by supporting several organisations, including one of the most innovative charities in wildlife conservation, Save The Elephants. During our September 2011 to October 2011 safari in Kenya, we blogged live from the field with photo and occasional video updates. We have continued to keep the blog updated since our return and are hoping that readers of the blog will donate to Save the Elephants by using the Just Giving link provided. In September 2012 we returned to Kenya and asked all of our safari guests to donate to Save The Elephants. In addition, I waived my normal booking fees for any of my Kenya talks in return for an equivalent donation to Save The Elephants through our Just Giving page in 2012. We are also planning to produce a book and an exhibition, with all proceeds going to Save The Elephants. In 2013, we will once again be returning to Kenya and encouraging our guests to donate. I am also donating a portion of all the fees for my photography talks to Save The Elephants.
